New Delhi. Former Indian batsman and commentator Ajay Jadeja has questioned the captaincy of KL Rahul in the IPL. He feels that the Karnataka batsman lacks leadership and has not seen the signs of a good captain while leading Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the last two seasons. Under Rahul’s captaincy, Punjab has played 25 IPL matches. Out of this, the team has won 11 and lost 14. In the IPL 2021 points table, Punjab is also at the fifth position with 10 points. On Sunday, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB vs PBKS) defeated him by 6 runs in a thrilling match. Punjab has won only 5 out of 13 matches played this season.
While talking to Cricbuzz, Jadeja emphasized one thing. He said that Rahul is soft spoken and his behavior is very flexible. These are the qualities that can take you a long way in the game. But as a captain, it will not work for you every time. If you look at KL Rahul, he is the captain of this team for the last two years, I never think he is the leader. The team (PBKS Playing XI) playing against RCB today, the changes made in the team, do you think KL Rahul would have done this?.
Rahul more flexible as captain: Jadeja
He further said that someone becomes the captain of India because he has a belief that he should be the captain. I have never seen anything like this in KL Rahul. Because he is very soft spoken and tries to balance everything. If he becomes the captain one day, it is sure that he will last the longest. Because a person who adjusts to everything can stay in that state for a long time. But the Indian captain should have his own thinking. Because there is a big difference between taking command of the IPL team and the captaincy of the Indian team.
‘Lack of leadership in KL Rahul’
Jadeja said that Rahul has a calm nature like MS Dhoni, but he has not carried much responsibility on his shoulders as the captain of Punjab Kings. The former Indian batsman said about KL Rahul that I do not know him personally. But usually when he is on the field, he is as calm as Dhoni. There are many good things in them. But most of all you need to be a leader. People should debate your decisions, ‘Why is he doing this or that?’. This never happens to him, even in the IPL team, because he has not taken any responsibility on himself, has allowed others to run the team.
