Former West Indies batsman Brian Lara has slammed the Mumbai Indians selectors for the inclusion of Mumbai Indians batsmen Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav in the team despite poor form in IPL 2021. Lara has raised questions on the selection of these two batsmen who are constantly flopping in the IPL. The former captain believes that both these players are either under pressure due to their place in the T20 World Cup or they have lost their appetite for victory. Mumbai Indians dropped Ishaan from the playing XI in the last match after poor form and now Suryakumar is also under threat.
Lara said on the show of Star Sports, ‘Maybe there is a disappointing performance under pressure to be included in the Indian team. If you look at Saurabh Tiwary, he shows more hunger to score runs than Suryakumar and Ishaan. I think Suryakumar and Ishaan should be a little more professional now and try to help their team win the tournament. For now, he should work on how to forget the World Cup and bring Mumbai back in the tournament. Perhaps a lot of selectors have lost their reputation now.
Saurabh Tiwary had scored 45 runs in the last match while Suryakumar is failing continuously. He has scored 0, 8, 5 and 3 runs in the last four matches in the UAE leg. Kishan also could not do much and his scores in the last three matches have been 11, 14, and 9 runs.
