IPL 2021 Brian lara tells reason why kkr would not consider replacing Shubman Gil

New Delhi. Young Shubman Gill is not in form and his bat has been calm for the last few matches. Former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara, one of the world’s greatest batsmen, has said that the Kolkata Knight Riders team will not exclude him from the team for the time being. Gill has scored a total of 232 runs in 11 matches of the current season, with an average of only 21.09. No century or half-century has been scored with his bat in this season.

Brian Lara said on Star Sports’ show Game Plan, ‘Shubman Gill is running unlucky. If you see him batting, he looks much better. And I believe he is just one match away from a big score. I think he matches really well with Iyer (Venkatesh) and the two can build a great partnership together. Can do something special, but getting someone else in the team instead of Shubman Gill is not something that the KKR team wants to do.

He also discussed about the Punjab Kings team. Lara said, ‘Punjab team has many good players, they have potential but are not able to perform at their best at the moment. Punjab’s batting has always been the strength of the team. Nicholas Pooran and Chris Gayle did not prove to be better on some occasions. Their captains KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal also strengthen the batting in the team. The team has been making big scores and tries to defend it. If they are not able to score big then they also have bowlers like Ravi Bishnoi and Mohammed Shami.

Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings are to meet in the 45th match of IPL-2021 in Dubai. Kolkata team is fourth with 10 points and Punjab with 8 points is currently at number six in the table.
