IPL 2021: Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag says Ms Dhoni knows Suresh Raina is out of form but will not drop him for Chennai Super Kings playing eleven – Latest Cricket News

Chennai Super Kings has become the first team to reach the playoffs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. CSK made it to the playoffs on Thursday by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad. Suresh Raina’s poor form is a matter of concern for CSK. But former India opener Virender Sehwag believes that MS Dhoni will not drop him from the team despite his poor form. Raina scored 54 runs in the first match against Mumbai Indians in the first phase of IPL 2021. Since then Raina has scored only 103 runs in IPL 14.

“Dhoni knows that Raina is not performing, but he may not be thinking of dropping the left-hander and taking someone else,” Sehwag said in a conversation with Cricbuzz. But if Raina plays around 20-30 balls and scores 10-20 runs, he will get some confidence. CSK know they have depth in their batting and even Shardul Thakur can do well. So, Super Kings will not worry much.

IPL 2021: Sehwag blames Dinesh Karthik for the R Ashwin and Eoin Morgan controversy, also taught a lesson in sportsmanship

He further said, ‘Earlier, we talked about Raina coming ahead of Dhoni in the batting lineup. Dhoni himself did not come up and sent Raina, who got out after playing a bad shot. I don’t think it is anything to worry about, but Dhoni would like Raina to score some runs before the playoffs. With the amount of experience Raina has in the shorter formats, there is absolutely no denying him scoring runs in the playoffs. Sometimes batsmen don’t get runs even after trying. Significantly, in IPL 2021, Raina has so far scored 157 runs in 11 matches at an average of 19.62 and has a strike rate of 127.64.
