In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, a thrilling match was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. In this match, SRH fast bowler Umran Malik set the record for the fastest delivery of the season. He threw the ball at a speed of 153 kmph. Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Umran Malik made this record in the 9th over of RCB’s innings. Before Malik, the record of bowling the fastest ball this season was held by Lockie Ferguson of Kolkata Knight Riders. Ferguson bowled the ball at a speed of 152.75 kmph.
Umran bowled the fourth ball of the 9th over to Devdutt Padikkal, whose speed was 153 kmph. Earlier on Sunday, Umram Malik featured in the top 10 list of fastest bowlers in IPL 14. Umran became the first Indian to be included in this list. The 21-year-old Umran bowled the ball at a speed of 146 kmph in the first over. Coach Randhir Singh told ANI that Umran was selected as a net bowler. T Natarajan could not play due to being Kovid and Umran got a chance. Umran’s father said that his son has made the entire country, including Jammu and Kashmir, proud.
After the match, Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson praised Umran Malik saying that he is definitely special. We saw him practicing in the nets. He is a real competitor and is proving to be effective even on slow pitches. Talking about the match played on Wednesday, batting first, Hyderabad scored 141 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Bangalore’s team could only score 137 runs for 6 wickets in the allotted overs. Bangalore needed 13 runs in the last over, but they could score only 8 runs.
