In the 43rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, Royal Challengers Bangalore are facing Rajasthan Royals at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium today. Bangalore bowled brilliantly and restricted Rajasthan to 149 for nine. In this match, Harshal Patel has once again created panic in the Rajasthan camp by taking three wickets in the same over. Harshal has taken a hat-trick this season and he took this hat-trick against the defending champions Mumbai Indians. Along with taking three wickets in an over against Rajasthan, Harshal has made many records in the IPL. He dismissed Riyan Parag, Chris Morris and Chetan Sakariya in the final over of Bangalore’s innings.

Bangalore bowler Harshal has now become the second Indian bowler to take the most wickets in a single season of IPL. He has taken 26 wickets so far in IPL 2021. He has taken these 26 wickets in only 11 matches. He is not only the purple cap holder with the most wickets, but is also far ahead of the number two player Avesh Khan. Jasprit Bumrah of Mumbai Indians is now ahead of Harshal, who holds the record for taking most wickets in a single season of IPL. Bumrah has taken 27 wickets in 2020. Before Harshal, the name of Bhuvneshwar Kumar was included in this list, who took 26 wickets in 20017. Bhuvi has also taken 23 wickets in 2016. Apart from him, Mohit Sharma has taken 23 wickets in 2014, RP Singh 23 in 2009 and Yuzvendra Chahal in 2015.

Harshal is also the first uncapped player to take the most wickets in a single season of IPL. Before him, Yuzvendra Chahal has taken 23 wickets, Sreesanth Arvind 21 and Siddharth Kaul have taken 21 wickets. Harshal also became the first bowler to take the highest number of wickets for Royal Challengers Bangalore in a single season of IPL. He has so far taken 26 wickets for Bangalore this season. Earlier, Chahal has taken the most wickets in a season for Bangalore with 23 wickets in 2015, R Vinay Kumar 23 in 2013 and Anil Kumble 21 in 2009.
