In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, now all the teams have to play four more matches, after which the four teams reaching the playoffs will be decided. The road to the playoffs for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is almost closed. Sunrisers Hyderabad registered a seven-wicket win against Rajasthan Royals on Monday (27 September). In this match, Jason Roy got a chance to make his IPL debut for SRH and David Warner did not come to the ground with the team. Warner hardly got a chance to play in the remaining matches this season. Head coach Trevor Bayliss said that the team management now wants to give opportunities to as many young cricketers as possible.
After the match, Bayliss said, ‘We will no longer be able to make the final, so we have decided that we will field as many young cricketers as possible. Young cricketers will get more and more opportunities to be in the set-up, not just on the ground. That’s why the decision was taken and David Warner was not the only experienced player who was left in the hotel. We have a lot of young players who haven’t come on the ground yet, not even as a reserve. We wanted to give them a chance, this can be seen in the coming matches as well.
Regarding Warner, Bayliss said, ‘We will have to sit in a day or two and pick an 18-man team. Dave is sitting in the hotel watching the match and supporting the team. The same is true for everyone else as well. We are all in this together. Jason Roy got a chance to play in this match in place of David Warner and he played an important role in the team’s victory with an innings of 60 runs and also became the man of the match.
