New Delhi. Punjab Kings’ left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has performed brilliantly in the second half of IPL 2021. Arshdeep has taken 9 wickets in 4 matches. Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag is also very happy with Arshdeep’s performance. He believes that Arshdeep is a talented bowler and BCCI should not let his talent go to waste and take care of the bowler. Arshdeep took 5 for 32 in the UAE leg of the IPL against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dubai and became the second bowler to do so this season. Before him Harshal Patel has also taken 5 wickets in IPL 2021.
Arshdeep has learned bowling tricks from Zaheer Khan and how talented a bowler he is, it can be gauged from the fact that he learned to swing the ball in just 3 days. Sehwag said in a conversation with Cricbuzz that Arshdeep will prove beneficial for whichever team he plays for.
Arshdeep can prove beneficial for the Indian team: Sehwag
He further said that the way the left-arm fast bowler’s ball falls away from the off-stump and comes in, the same way Arshdeep Singh is bowling. He worked with Zaheer Khan for only three days. If he can learn to swing the ball in such a short time, then you can imagine that if he stays with Team India, then he can bring so much benefit. In such a situation, BCCI should take full care that Arshdeep’s talent is not lost.
‘Arshdeep can play for India’
Sehwag said that if Arshdeep keeps working hard on his bowling like this, then he can play for India soon. He said that Arshdeep is a great bowler and the way he is playing now, the day is not far when he can be seen bowling for India.
Arshdeep has so far taken 16 wickets in 10 matches in IPL 2021 at an average of 16.56. He is at the fourth position in the list of highest wicket-takers this season. His strike rate has also been excellent.
