November 30 is the last date to retain players ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction and defending champions Chennai Super Kings plan to retain their captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for the next three seasons. As per BCCI rules, each team can retain a maximum of 4 players. Apart from Dhoni, CSK will also retain all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and opener Rituraj Gaikwad. Dhoni recently said that his last T20 match will be in Chennai. However, the suspense still persists regarding Dwayne Bravo. Bravo has retired from international cricket, but there is still nothing clear about his playing in the IPL.
According to the Indian Express report, the CSK team management is also in touch with England all-rounder Moeen Ali. If Moeen Ali is unable to rejoin the team, then CSK have the option of slow pacer Sam Curran as the fourth retained player. If reports are to be believed, CSK is in no mood to retain Bravo and Suresh Raina. All the franchises have to submit their retained players list by November 30 and the IPL auctions will be held next month.
Apart from Chennai, Delhi Capitals can retain their captain Rishabh Pant, all-rounder Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw and Enrique Nortje. At the same time, Shreyas Iyer can be released. There are reports that Shreyas can join one of the two new teams of IPL and he can captain the team there. Apart from this, Kolkata Knight Riders are also in no mood to retain their captain Eoin Morgan and Morgan is finding it difficult to stay in the team.
