CSK coach on Ravindra Jadeja: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) coach Stephen Fleming is not too worried about Ravindra Jadeja’s form but said going forward the team will see which position will be suitable for the star all-rounder in the batting order. In 10 matches of this season, Jadeja has so far scored just 116 runs at an average of 19.33 while taking five wickets at an economy rate of 7.52.
Fleming has no problem with Jadeja’s form
Jadeja was dismissed for three on Wednesday as CSK suffered a 13-run loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore in their 7th defeat. Fleming said in the virtual press conference, ‘No, I am not worried. T20 matches can be tough and when you are batting at 5th or 6th position you don’t get much time to pick up the momentum.
Jadeja’s batting order can change
Fleming said, ‘We will see which batting order will work for him next. But I am not worried about his form. Jadeja, who was in poor form, handed over the captaincy to Mahendra Singh Dhoni last week to focus on his game. CSK have just 6 points from 10 matches and the team is almost out of the tournament and Fleming admitted that they were weak in all departments.
CSK’s fielding was poor
He said, ‘Sometimes our fielding and dropping catches is a matter of concern. Most of our matches were close, we were really close to winning them. Fleming said, ‘The match was taken away from us or we could not reach the target. But this was generally the case in the tournament. We fell short in all the three departments. He said, ‘We didn’t even have some bowlers, you know, but we were short.’
Injuries to key players have had a huge impact on CSK with Deepak Chahar being the most important player who was ruled out of the season due to a back injury. Moeen Ali also could not play some matches due to injury in training.
