After suffering a third defeat in five matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting feels his team needs to improve in the department of the game. Delhi Capitals lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore by 16 runs at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday, leaving the team with just four points and are in the lower half of points. Ponting said that the time has come when Delhi Capitals will have to perform as a unit in all departments of the game.
Ponting said after the match, ‘We have not batted with full strength. Mitchell Marsh played in the first match and he probably didn’t fit the rhythm we needed. Rovman Powell has not been able to do well in the middle order so far. So we need to fix what we want to do with these things in the tournament.
Ponting said, “There is definitely a need for improvement in some departments with the bat and ball. A lot of runs were scored around the park against us in a few overs. We need to get better in all aspects of the game. He also said that the right team combination will be the key for Delhi Capitals in the coming matches. Ponting said, “The next two matches are very important for us and we have to look at all aspects of our game and pick the right team.” The 11 players we pick will have to do well.
