IPL 2022: Hardik Pandya told – Lost to RCB due to a mistake, lesson learned for playoffs too

Mumbai. Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya said that his team was left behind by 10 runs in the last league match of the IPL at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB achieved the target of 169 runs for the win with eight balls to spare for the loss of two wickets. For RCB, Virat Kohli scored 75 in 54 balls, captain Faf du Plessis scored 44 runs in 38 balls. The pair of these two, adding 115 runs for the first wicket, laid the foundation for the victory of RCB, which Maxwell reached the end by hitting 40 runs in 18 balls.

Pandya said after the match, “We were left behind by ten runs in the end. Glenn Maxwell batted in his familiar style. We were on the right track, but losing two wickets in a row broke the momentum. The lesson learned from this is not to lose wickets continuously in the playoffs. Regarding his form, Pandya, who scored a half-century in the match, said, “It is always good to score runs. There is a good rapport between the players.”

Losing wickets continuously was heavy: Pandya
On the question related to batting first after winning the toss, Pandya said that we wanted to see how the players would handle the pressure if such a situation would arise in the playoffs. So far we are on the right track. We just don’t have to keep losing wickets. It has already been talked about that in T20 cricket, the situation changes when one wicket after the other is lost. We will avoid repeating this mistake in the next matches i.e. playoffs.

RCB rely on Mumbai
RCB, on the other hand, may have won the match, but their way to the playoffs will be determined by the outcome of Saturday’s match between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. That’s why RCB would be praying for Delhi’s defeat. After the match, RCB all-rounder Maxwell said, “We will keep an eye on that match. Will play golf tomorrow but the focus will be on the match. This team has worked so hard that we deserve to be in the last four. Hopefully Mumbai Indians will take us there.”
