New Delhi. Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul has suffered a double blow. In a match of IPL 2022, his team Lucknow was defeated by Royal Challengers Bangalore by 18 runs. After this, Rahul has been fined 20 percent of the match fee for violating the IPL Code of Conduct. Rahul has also accepted the fine imposed on him by admitting the mistake under Level-1 of the Code of Conduct of the IPL. Apart from KL Rahul, Lucknow Super Giants all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has also been reprimanded for violating the IPL code of conduct during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Marcus Stoinis has also accepted the ban imposed on him considering the offense under Level-1. In fact, in the match against RCB, Stoinis got bowled while playing a big shot on a ball from Josh Hazlewood. Hazlewood’s ball took the edge of Stoinis’s bat and hit the wicket. After this, Stoinis was seen raging against the umpire. His words were recorded in the stump microphone.
The reason for Stoinis’ displeasure was umpire Chris Gaffney’s decision not to declare Hazlewood’s previous ball as wide. Because of this act, Stoinis had to face punishment. The decision of the match referee for a Level-1 breach of the IPL’s Code of Conduct is final and binding on all.
Stoinis abused in the live match
As soon as Stoinis was dismissed, the match turned towards RCB and the Faf du Plessis-led RCB restricted Lucknow Super Giants to 163 for 8 despite two sixes from Jason Holder in the last over and thus the match was played. Won by 18 runs. Stoinis was dismissed for 24 runs in 15 balls. At the same time, KL Rahul scored 30 runs in 24 balls.
