Lucknow Super Giants won the playoffs on Wednesday with a two-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders. The hero of this victory was Quinton de Kock, who played a not out innings of 140 runs in 70 balls. De Kock had not been able to do anything special earlier this season, so his innings was very important for the team. After the match, Vijay Dahiya, assistant coach of Lucknow Super Giants and former Indian wicket-keeper batsman, said that de Kock knew that when his bat would work, it would be an important innings.
Dekock’s aggressive celebration was seen as soon as he scored a century, the reason given after the match
Dahiya said that perhaps this was the reason why he celebrated it by punching the bat as soon as he completed the century. He said, ‘I will talk about Quinton. Sometimes he scored runs in the current IPL, sometimes he could not. Whenever we used to practice, he would always say that he has never felt so good, so how is it that he is not able to score runs. Dahiya said, ‘He also said that the day he does it, his innings will be important and that is what he did. And the way he batted for 20 overs in which no wicket fell, it was fantastic.
De Kock’s innings and captain Lokesh Rahul’s 68 not out helped Lucknow Super Giants’ team score 210 runs without losing a wicket and also secured their place in the playoffs by registering a two-run win. Dahiya also praised Rahul and said that the captain has always taken the responsibility. He said, ‘If the captain says something and does it, then it sets good standards for the team. The way Rahul has batted this entire season has been fantastic. He has always been in good shape and he has played with responsibility.
