Rajasthan Royals ahead in playoff race

Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals are third in the points table with 16 points. RR’s last match is against Chennai Super Kings on 20 May. If Rajasthan win their last match, they will qualify for the playoffs straight away, while if they lose to CSK, the net run rate will get stuck. RR has a net run rate of +0.304 after 13 matches. If the team loses to Chennai by a small margin, then their chances of reaching the playoffs will be high as Rajasthan’s run rate is much better than the rest of the teams.

Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians match will decide the fate of other teams

The last match of the Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals is against Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians on May 21. If Delhi manages to beat Mumbai, they will qualify for the playoffs by spoiling the game of RCB, Punjab and Hyderabad. Delhi is currently on the fourth position with 14 points, after beating Mumbai, the team will reach 16 points.

In the remaining three teams, RCB has a chance to reach 16 points, but their net run rate is much worse than Delhi. While Delhi’s net run rate after 13 matches is +0.255, RCB’s net run rate after the same number of matches is -0.323. If RCB have to qualify for the playoffs, they will have to register a big win over Gujarat. At the same time, even if both the teams lose their last match, the screw will get stuck only after coming to the net run rate.
