IPL 2022 Playoffs Without MI, CSK and KKR: The 15th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is at its final stage. Two new franchises Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants have qualified for the playoffs, while five-time champions Mumbai Indians, four-time title-winning Chennai Super Kings and two-time winner Kolkata Knight Riders have been ruled out of IPL 2022. KKR became the third team to be knocked out of the playoff race after their defeat against Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday night. Mumbai Indians had 8 consecutive defeats

This season has been disappointing for Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians. The team had to face defeat in the first 8 matches of IPL 2022. Out of the 13 matches played so far, MI has been able to win only 3 matches and are at the bottom of the points table at the 10th position. Mumbai was the first team to be knocked out of the playoffs.

Chennai Super Kings kept changing captain

CSK’s regular captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni decided to step down as captain before the start of the season. The franchise picked Ravindra Jadeja as the new captain and handed over the responsibility to him. The team’s performance under Jadeja’s captaincy was disappointing and the all-rounder handed over the captaincy to Dhoni back in the middle of the season. After this Jadeja was ruled out of the tournament due to injury. Defending champions CSK are ranked 9th after winning 4 out of 13 matches.

Kolkata Knight Riders could not find the perfect playing XI till the end of the season

Kolkata Knight Riders, led by new captain Shreyas Iyer, were seen changing the playing XI for the most number of times during IPL 2022. The team also made three changes in the last match against Lucknow Super Giants. The team was neither able to find the perfect opening combination nor did their bowling unit look strong. KKR could not find the perfect playing XI till the end of the season. The result was that the team was out of the tournament after losing 8 matches in 14 matches.
