Delhi Capitals thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders by four wickets in an IPL match on Thursday with the deadly bowling of chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav and useful innings from openers David Warner and Rovman Powell. This is Delhi’s fourth win in eight matches and has moved up to sixth in the table, while Kolkata have suffered their fifth consecutive loss in nine matches. After the defeat against Delhi, Kolkata’s team has become like Mumbai and Chennai, the performance of these two champion teams this season has been very disappointing.
In the points table, the team of Gujarat Titans continues to top the table with 7 wins and 14 points from 8 matches. The second place is Rajasthan Royals with 6 wins from 8 matches. Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have won 5 out of 8 matches, are at the third place in this list. Lucknow and Bangalore are on the fourth and fifth positions with 10 points each.
Delhi restricted Kolkata to 146 for nine in 20 overs and then registered a victory at 150 for six in 19 overs. Delhi won the toss and decided to bowl first. For Kolkata, Nitish Rana scored 57 runs in 34 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes, skipper Shreyas Iyer scored 42 runs in 37 balls with four fours and Rinku Singh scored 23 runs in 16 balls with three fours. Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman took the wickets of Rinku Singh, Nitish Rana and Tim Southee in the last over of the innings. Mustafizur took three wickets for 18 runs in four overs. Chetan Sakaria and Axar Patel got a wicket each.

No other Kolkata batsman could reach double numbers. Openers Aaron Finch was dismissed for three, Venkatesh Iyer six and Baba Indrajit scored six runs. Andre Russell was stumped by Kuldeep without opening the account. Kuldeep also took the wickets of Iyer, Inderjit and Sunil Narine.
Umesh Yadav got off to a good start with the wicket of Prithvi Shaw off the first ball.
But David Warner stood at the other end. Lalit Yadav (22) struggled but his partnership with Warner put Delhi in a strong position. However, after losing three wickets within two balls, Delhi gave Kolkata a chance to make a comeback. Warner hit eight fours in 42 off 26 balls. Umesh Yadav also took Warner’s wicket. Umesh gave a deep blow to Delhi by getting Delhi captain Rishabh Pant caught by the wicketkeeper.
But in the end, Axar Patel (24), Rovman Powell (33 not out) and Shardul Thakur (eight not out) stunned with the bat to give Delhi two points with one over to spare. Powell ended the match with a six. Powell hit one four and three sixes in his 16-ball knock. Delhi have now moved up to sixth in the points table with a fourth win and eight points and the coming matches will be do-or-die for Kolkata after their sixth loss in nine matches.
