IPL 2022 Ravi Shastri advised Rishabh Pant he should forget that he is the captain of Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant is going through a very bad phase in IPL 2022 as a batsman. Leaving aside the first match against Mumbai Indians, in which he was dismissed for 1. Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has started in every match of IPL 2022 so far. The attacking left-hander, however, has failed to convert his starts into big scores. No half-century in the five matches of the league so far is proof of this.

With David Warner and Prithvi Shaw in the top order, the team has got a tremendous advantage. However, if Pant can score a few more runs with the bat, then it will be good for Delhi. To do so, former India head coach Ravi Shastri feels that Pant should forget about being extra responsible as he is the captain of the team. Shastri says that Pant should bat freely to give his best.

Ravi Shastri said, “What I want to see with Delhi is that Rishabh Pant is coming and playing his natural game. Forgetting that he is the captain of the team, let him go out and play his natural game. Let the others around you take the responsibility, because if he fires it will improve his captaincy and also you will see the result for Delhi Capitals changing very quickly.

Shastri said that there is no problem in Pant’s batting. All left-handed batsmen have to take only this short amount of time in the beginning and then proceed with full force without any half-measures.

He said, ‘I don’t think there is any problem with his batting. I think it just needs a change in mindset, where he goes out and gives himself some time and then goes for it. There are no half measures. The Rishabh Pant you know is Rishabh Pant where there is no half measure. He plays high risk shots, he takes his chances and you want him to play that way because that’s what brings out the best in him.”
