New Delhi. Veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan has been given the captaincy of Punjab Kings. Due to the injury of Mayank Agarwal, Dhawan took charge of the Punjab team on Sunday in the IPL-2022 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Dhawan also told after the toss that why and for how long Mayank Agarwal will be out of the team. Let us tell you that before this Dhawan had taken over the command of Sunrisers Hyderabad team in the 2014 season and then Punjab Kings team was in front of him. Now it’s just the opposite. He is representing Punjab in the current season.
Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson won the toss against Punjab Kings and elected to field first. There was only one change in the Punjab team and Mayank Agarwal was out of the team due to injury. Prabhsimran Singh was included in the playing XI in his place. At the same time, no changes were made in the Hyderabad team.
Shikhar Dhawan also gave the reason for this. After losing the toss, he said, ‘Mayank’s toe has hurt. Hopefully he will be fit by the next match. There is only one change in our team – Prabhsimran has been given a chance. We have been doing well in the season without relying on any one player. Need to keep playing well as a team.
He further said, ‘The bowling can be better, we are working on it. The team is new and we are taking time to settle down. If we score well on this pitch, we can put the opposition under pressure. Shikhar Dhawan has scored 5981 runs in this T20 league. He has scored 2 centuries and 45 half-centuries.
