Mumbai. Kolkata Knight Riders’ campaign in IPL 2022 came to an end after a match against Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday. In this match, KKR suffered a close defeat by 2 runs. Batting first, Lucknow scored 210 runs without losing a wicket. Chasing the target, Kolkata’s team could score 208 runs for 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Rinku Singh’s role was crucial in bringing KKR so close to the match. At one time when he was batting fast, it seemed that KKR would win this match easily. But this could not happen. The journey of IPL has not been easy for Rinku. He says that once due to injury, he had to be away from cricket for a few months. On coming to know about the injury, his father had not eaten for 2-3 days.
Kolkata Knight Riders uploaded a video on their official Facebook on Thursday. In which Rinku Singh has talked about his cricket struggle. He said, “Five years were difficult for me. The first year I was selected for KKR. When I got a chance to play, I could not perform well. Still, KKR trusted me and retained it for the next few seasons.” Rinku Singh was bought by KKR in the year 2018 for Rs 80 lakh. But used them less.
When father did not eat food
Rinku, who hails from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, is the sole breadwinner of his household. During the conversation, he said, “After coming to know about my injury, my father had not eaten for 2-3 days. Due to the injury, I was away from cricket for several months. Rinku Singh said, “I have trained hard according to the body language of my body. The team never thought I was down. Last year was very tough for me. I got injured while trying to take a double during a Vijay Hazare Trophy match. When I fell, I thought about IPL. I was told that an operation was needed and it would take 6-7 months to recover.”
According to Rinku Singh, “I was not happy being away from cricket for so long. My father did not eat food for 2-3 days. I told my father that this is just an injury which is part of cricket. I am the sole bread earner of my family. When such things happen, there is bound to be concern.” He added, “I was a little sad, but I knew I would get well soon because I had a lot of confidence.”
Rinku played a brilliant innings
In the match played against Lucknow Super Giants, Rinku Singh came to bat at number seven. During this, he batted atish. KKR’s team was lagging behind in the match but Rinku Singh brought him in the match. But this was not his day. When Rinku was out, KKR had to score 3 runs in 1 ball to win. But Umesh Yadav got out on the last ball. Due to which Kolkata lost this match by 2 runs. Rinku Singh scored 40 runs in 15 balls in the match. During this he hit 4 sixes and 2 fours.
