Mumbai Indians, who were out of the play-off spree, thrashed Chennai Super Kings by five wickets in an IPL match on Thursday to bow out of the tournament due to a lethal performance by their bowlers. Fans had high hopes for the last match between Mumbai and Chennai in IPL 2022. But Mumbai bundled out Chennai for just 97 runs in 16 overs and then won 103 runs for five wickets in 14.5 overs.
For Chennai, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored an unbeaten 36 off 33 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes. Dwayne Bravo contributed 12 and Shivam Dubey and Ambati Rayudu contributed 10 each. Chennai’s team could not return to the match after two wickets fell in the first over. Robin Uthappa returned to the pavilion as the third batsman in the second over. Dhoni and Bravo shared a 39-run partnership for the seventh wicket.
The CSK batsmen had succumbed to the Mumbai bowling attack. Many veterans have given their feedback on this. Former India star Yuvraj Singh also reacted to this. Yuvraj was accompanied by former CSK vice-captain Suresh Raina during the match between Chennai and Mumbai. A video of Yuvraj is going viral, in which he is trying to troll Raina and then Raina has also given a funny answer. Yuvraj told Raina, “Your team was all out for 97 today, what would you like to say.” Raina replied to Yuvraj, “I was not in that match.”
Suresh Raina, popularly known as Mr IPL, is CSK’s all-time highest run-scorer. He was also a part of the leader group and used to lead the team in Dhoni’s absence. CSK released him before the IPL 2022 auction.
