IPL 2023: 2 overs and the match against CSK slipped from the hands of Delhi Capitals

New Delhi. In IPL-2023, Chennai Super Kings have almost sealed their place in the playoffs by defeating Delhi Capitals (CSK vs DC) by 27 runs. CSK have 15 points from 11 matches with seven wins, MS Dhoni’s team’s match against Lucknow Supergiants could not be completed due to rain and had to satisfy with one point. Of course, in the match, CSK had scored 167 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs while faltering, in response to which the steps of Delhi Capitals stopped at 140 runs in 20 overs and the team had to face a 27-run defeat.

Of course, Delhi Capitals have proved to be the weakest team of the current season in terms of performance, but at one time it seemed to be giving tough competition to CSK. In fact, during CSK’s batting, two overs were very heavy on Delhi and the ‘Momentum’ of the low scoring game shifted towards Dhoni’s team.

Simply put, during the batting of CSK, 23 runs were scored in the 14th over of the innings bowled by Lalit Yadav and 21 runs in the 19th over of the innings bowled by Khaleel Ahmed. These 44 runs scored in two overs became the reason for the defeat for Delhi Capitals.

DC did not reach 200 runs even once in 2023
Due to these two overs, CSK’s score not only crossed 150 but also crossed 160, which proved to be beyond the power of poor batting Delhi. Let me tell you, DC is the only team which has not been able to touch the figure of 200 runs. 188 runs is the highest score of David Warner’s team this season, which he made against Sunrisers Hyderabad last month, on 29 April.

The two overs that fell heavily on Delhi Capitals

14th over (Bowler-Lalit Yadav): After 13 overs, CSK’s score was 88 for 4 (average 6.76). Devon Conway, Rituraj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali and Ajinkya Rahane were out. The pair of Shivam Dubey and Ambati Rayudu was at the crease. This over was bowled by spinner Lalit Yadav, on whose first and second balls Shivam Dubey hit sixes and fours on the fourth ball. Rayudu hit a six on the last ball. 23 runs were scored in the over and CSK’s score jumped from 88 runs to 111 runs.

19th over (Bowler- Khaleel Ahmed): After 18 overs, CSK’s score was 139 for 6 and the pair of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja were at the crease. Khaleel bowled the 19th over, on which Dhoni hit a six on the third ball, a four on the fourth and again a six on the last ball. 21 runs were scored in the over and the score crossed 150 runs. CSK scored 169 runs in 20 overs.

This score was such that it remained out of the ‘status’ of Delhi’s batsmen. In this season of IPL, DC’s score has been less than 150 runs in six out of 11 matches, in such a situation, Delhi Capitals chasing CSK’s score of 168. The batsmen surrendered.
