Chennai defeated defending champions Gujarat Titans on the last ball in a rain-interrupted final played at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. In the final of IPL 2023, Chennai Super Kings got a target of 171 runs to win in 15 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis rule, which they achieved on the last ball.

Chennai Super Kings not only got the gleaming trophy, but the team got Rs 20 crore as prize money as the winner. While the runner up Gujraj Titans got Rs 12.5 crore as prize. Apart from this, Mumbai Indians, who finished in third place, were also thrashed. Mumbai got Rs 7 crore as reward. On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants, who stood at the fourth position, got 6.5 crores as prize money.

In the first season of IPL, the winner got Rs 4.8 crore. At the same time, Rs 2.4 crore came in the runner-up’s bag. Since then the prize money has increased manifold. However, the prize money has not increased since last few years. But, next year it may increase.
