New Delhi. The performance of Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023 (IPL 2023) so far has been excellent and MS Dhoni’s team is almost certain to reach the playoffs. CSK has won 6 out of 11 matches this season, while the match against Lucknow Supergiants had to be satisfied with one point due to no result due to rain. CSK is currently second in the points table with 13 points. While Devon Conway, Rituraj Gaikwad, Shivam Dubey and Ajinkya Rahane have performed brilliantly in batting for four-time champions CSK in the current season, Tushar Deshpande, Ravindra Jadeja, Mathisa Pathirana and Moin Ali have lived up to expectations in bowling.
For CSK, the decision to bet on 29-year-old Shivam Dube has proved to be correct. Shivam, a left-handed batsman with a base price of 50 lakhs, was bought by CSK for Rs 4 crore. Shivam is third in terms of scoring runs for CSK in the current season. He has scored 290 runs at an average of 36.25 and a strike rate of 156.75, remaining unbeaten once in 9 innings of 11 matches. So far he has hit 24 sixes. Shivam has now become a stable player of the team, improving his performance every season. CSK has to play its next match against Delhi Capitals.
RCB bought for five crores
Left-handed batsman Shivam Dubey is known for hitting long sixes like Yuvraj Singh. Before the 2019 IPL auction, he hit five sixes in an over in the match against Baroda. Testing his natural ability to hit the ball, Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Shivam for a whopping amount of five crore rupees for the 2019 season. Shivam also proves to be useful as a medium pace bowler. Although he did not live up to the expectations in the initial season, he has now justified his faith in the franchise by improving his performance. In the current season, he is third in terms of hitting sixes (24 sixes) and only RCB’s Faf Duplesey and Glenn Maxwell have hit more sixes than Shivam Dubey.
Shivam’s runs and sixes increased every season
In the 2019 IPL season, Shivam got to play only 4 matches for RCB, in which he scored 40 runs at an average of 13.33 while remaining unbeaten once, these 40 runs included three sixes. Couldn’t do it and remained unbeaten twice in 9 innings of 11 matches and could score only 129 runs. Apart from hitting 9 sixes in this season, he also took four wickets. Despite the high price, Shivam and RCB were together for only two seasons due to poor performance. In 2021, Shivam came in the Rajasthan Royals jersey and was able to impress with his performance. He scored 230 runs (one half-century, 10 sixes) at an average of 28.75 and a strike rate of 119.17, remaining unbeaten once in 9 matches for RR.
After joining CSK in the 2022 season, Shivam’s game went uphill. ‘Captain Cool’ MS Dhoni made full use of his talent. In IPL 2022, Shivam remained unbeaten once in 11 matches, scoring 289 runs at an average of 28.90, which included a half-century. His highest score was 95 not out during this period. Not only this, he also hit 14 sixes in this season. Shivam has also played one ODI and 13 T20 matches for India.
