IPL 2023: This bowler, who took 5 wickets and hat-trick twice, once had the power, now yearns for wickets

New Delhi. When bad times will come, it cannot be said. The player who once used to speak highly of the Indian Premier League, seems to be losing the trust of his team this time. Apart from taking 5 wickets twice in the innings, a hat-trick is also registered in the name of this bowler. This is probably the reason why left-arm fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat has been bet on by most franchises in the IPL so far, he has made a record of ‘selling’ 11 times in the tournament. In the 2018 IPL auction, the Rajasthan Royals team bought him for a whopping amount of 11 crore 50 lakhs.

However, now the situation has changed. The value of ‘Brand Unadkat’ is currently falling. This time the team of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bought this player for a base price of Rs 50 lakhs. When LSG bought Unadkat, he hoped that with his experience and bowling skills, Jaydev would prove useful in the victory of the team, but so far this has not happened.

Jaydev has so far got a chance to play in three matches of the team, in which he has not been able to get any wicket. Not only this, even in the matter of accurate bowling, he has not been able to live up to the expectations. Unadkat has scored 92 runs in eight overs and his economy is 11.50. Unadkat, who made Saurashtra the Ranji Trophy champion in this series under his captaincy, has scored 9 runs in an innings of three matches.

Took hat-trick against Sunrisers
In the IPL, he has so far played for teams like Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rising Pune Supergiants, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rising Pune Supergiants. It was while playing for Rising Pune Supergiants that Jaydev took a hat-trick in IPL-2017, dismissing Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Bipul Sharma, Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in consecutive balls.

Only two bowlers have been able to take 5 wickets in an innings in IPL.
Playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013 and Rising Pune Supergiants (RPSG) in 2017, Unadkat achieved the feat of taking five wickets in an innings. Apart from him, James Faulkner has achieved the feat of taking five wickets in an innings twice in the IPL. In 2013, he took five wickets for 25 runs against Delhi Daredevils (renamed Delhi Capitals) for RCB and in 2017 played for RPSG. He took five wickets for 30 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
