IPL Media Rights: The auction of media rights is going on for the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL season from 2023 to 2027. The auction process for Package A and Package B has been completed, while e-auction is on for Package C. At the same time, the bidding for Package D will be held tomorrow i.e. on Tuesday, June 14. However, Package A and Package B have been announced and tomorrow it will also be officially confirmed which company has got the rights.
TV and digital rights have been bought by two different broadcasting companies. This has made one thing clear that we will not get to watch matches in TV and digital format on the same network. A large company won the bid for TV rights in the Indian subcontinent with a bid of Rs 23,575 crore, while another large company bid for Rs 20,500 crore for digital rights.
In this way, the BCCI is going to get Rs 44,075 crore from TV and digital rights for 410 IPL matches. Talking about the rights of only one match of TV, it is 57.5 crores, while for digital the media rights of an IPL match is Rs 50 crores. In this way, only from India’s TV and digital media rights, BCCI will get Rs 107.5 crore, which will be the second largest sports league in the world.
If sources are to be believed, Sony has got the TV rights, while Jio has made the biggest bid for the digital rights. However, till now there is no official confirmation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI and IPL that these companies have got these media rights. This will be announced on Tuesday after the sale of the rights to Package C and Package D.
