IPL Podcast: Two hands open on a very serious issue, today Gujarat and Rajasthan will be face to face in Jaipur

SI am here with this podcast covering the cricketing activities of the week, Sanjay Banerjee ka Namaskar- Suno Dil Se. This week of IPL was in tremendous headlines in many ways. On the matter of Virat and Gambhir, the whole cricket world openly raised two hands, so the way the results of the matches have come this week has surprised everyone. Most of the teams have lost the matches on their ground and have also taken a distributed decision of the tradition of batting first after winning the toss. In this shortest format of cricket, generally there has been a tradition of batting after winning the toss.

Last night, Hyderabad also had to face defeat by five runs at the hands of Kolkata on their own ground. Kolkata won the toss in the match and scored the first 171 runs. Captain Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh again played excellent innings. The credit for the team’s victory goes to both of them to a large extent. Nitish scored 42 and Rinku Singh scored 46 runs. By the way, when Hyderabad needed to score nine runs in the last over to win, then Varun Chakraborty forced the hosts to defeat by bowling well and also got the man of the match award.

However, at one time the Hyderabad team was close to victory, but Kolkata got a chance to make a comeback after captain Aiden Markram 41, Heinrich Klaasen’s 36 and then Abdul Samad’s 21. This victory of Kolkata and the defeat of Hyderabad did not affect the points table, but Kolkata avenged the previous defeat from Hyderabad on its ground.

On the other hand, tonight when the teams of Gujarat and Rajasthan will be face to face in Jaipur, then both will aim to further strengthen their position in the points table. If Gujarat wins, it will get 14 points, while if Rajasthan wins, it will be in front of everyone as joint leader with 12 points. Rajasthan won the last match against Gujarat thanks to the half-centuries of Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer.

At present, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants are on top of the points table. Then there are Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. All of them are also getting challenges from Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. It is possible that one of these, or both, appear in the playoffs, then it will not be a surprise.

Mumbai Indians won the previous match by winning the toss and bowling first, but before that they decided to defend the total. By the way, in the six consecutive matches of the middle, the teams batted first after winning the toss. But now a slight change has been seen in this trend. Similarly, home ground advantage didn’t seem to favor him this week. Punjab Kings lost both the last matches at their home ground Mohali. First Lucknow then Mumbai Indians defeated him. Similarly, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans could not avoid defeat at their respective grounds.

It is a matter of relief that two talented players of Indian cricket – Suryakumar Yadav and Ishaan Kishan are now seen catching rhythm. In the last match, both of them won Mumbai Indians by playing a tremendous innings and included the team in the playoff race. Suryakumar Yadav had to face criticism due to poor form in the initial match. But from the half-century innings in three out of the last four matches, it can be assumed that his hank is returning. With Ishaan Kishan, he shared a 116-run partnership against Punjab Kings.

On the other hand, Ishaan Kishan has also scored two fifties in the season. Against Punjab, he showed a lot of emphasis and despite captain Rohit Sharma being dismissed without opening the account, he saved the team from despair. Ishaan hit four sixes in his innings of 75 runs and Punjab’s Arshdeep had to spend 66 runs in four overs. Arshdeep is in third place in terms of scoring the most runs in the history of the league.

The discussion of Mumbai Indians is also important because it has successfully chased a target of more than 200 runs in two consecutive matches. This is the first team in IPL history to do so. Due to this defeat, the tremendous innings of two Punjab batsmen Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma could not garner much headlines. Earlier, Mumbai had also won the 1000th match of IPL history.

In Wankhede, they defeated Rajasthan Royals by six wickets in which Surya played a half-century innings. By the way, the hero of this match can be considered as Tim David, who hit three sixes back to back in Jason Holder’s over. In just 23 balls, David made the impossible possible by adding 62 runs with Tilak Verma.

It is also no less interesting that on the same day that Mumbai defeated Rajasthan, in another match of the double header, Punjab Kings defeated Chennai Super Kings by four wickets at the same ground. This was the first time in IPL history, when all the four teams scored 200 runs in both the matches played on the same day. Cricket lovers got to see more than 800 runs in a single day, what could be more thrilling than this. By the way, due to Rajasthan’s defeat, the century of its star batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal went in vain, who hit eight sixes in his innings of 124 runs. Similarly, Devon Conway’s unbeaten 92-run innings was wasted due to Chennai’s defeat.

Not only were big scores made in the IPL this week, but low scores were also seen. Due to the low score in the big stadium of Ahmedabad, the whole world saw the struggle of every ball. Who knew that the team which lost the first five wickets in the power play for only 28 runs, would later win the match as well. Due to Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma, the Delhi team could score only 130 runs. In response, the table topper Gujarat team was forced to fight in such a way that it had to stop five runs short of the target.

Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya definitely played an inning of 59 runs after Shubman Gill’s score without being dismissed, but he could not win his team. Despite the half-century, Hardik had to face criticism because contrary to his nature, Hardik played 53 balls to score 59 runs. In the same match, Rahul Tewatia hit Enrique Norkhia for three sixes in the 19th over in a bad situation. Nevertheless, praise is being given to the experienced Ishant Sharma, who saved 11 runs in the last over to give Delhi a third win. Despite this, the Delhi team is constantly lagging behind in the points table and is at the bottom.

Meanwhile, in the match between Gujarat and Kolkata Knight Riders, Vijay Shankar scored an unbeaten 51 off 24 balls for Gujarat and attracted attention for the World Cup. In 2019 also, he was included in the Indian team for the ODI World Cup after playing a similar innings. This contest went in favor of Gujarat.

By the way, this week of IPL will be remembered for Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir controversy. Royal Challengers Bangalore registered an 18-run win over the hosts at the same ground in Lucknow. The defeat on their own ground was troubling Lucknow, while Bangalore also took revenge for the defeat at the hands of Lucknow on their own ground.

By the way, the mutual dispute between these two is very old. Virat is still on the field as a player while Gautam is associated with the Lucknow team as a consultant. Both were fined 100 per cent match fee for this behaviour, while Afghan player Naveen-ul-Haq of Lucknow was fined 50 per cent. In fact, it started with heated language between Virat and Naveen, which later went on to Virat and Gambhir. However, the tutu-mamai of these two stalwarts of Indian cricket is against the basic spirit of this game of gentlemen. It was a podcast based on the cricketing activities of the week – Suno Dil Se.
