The deadline for retaining players for the current eight franchises of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has ended today. In a short while from now it will be officially announced which team will retain which players. According to reports, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Kane Williamson and Glenn Maxwell are among the big names that the current franchise teams have decided to retain for IPL 2022. After finalizing the retained players of the existing eight team, two new franchises Lucknow and Ahmedabad will get a chance to choose three players from December 1 to 25, followed by a mega auction in January. The current eight teams can retain a maximum of four players, with no more than three Indians and not more than two foreign players.
7:40 PM: Media reports according to, Sunrisers Hyderabad has not retained magic spinner Rashid Khan. With this, his long journey with Hyderabad has come to an end. Rashid will now enter the mega auction.
7:25 PM: Sunrisers Hyderabad have decided to retain Abdul Samad and Umran Malik of Jammu and Kashmir apart from Kane Williamson.
7:20 PM: Rajasthan Royals have retained England’s Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal apart from captain Sanju Samson.
7:10 PM: Media reports According to reports, five-time champions Mumbai Indians have decided to retain West Indies batting great Kieron Pollard. Apart from this, the team has also retained Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah. With this it has been decided that Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya will now be involved in the mega auction.
6:50 PM: Punjab Kings have decided to retain openers Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh.
6:30 PM: Royal Challengers Bangalore have decided to retain fast bowlers Virat Kohli, Mohammad Siraj and Glenn Maxwell.
