Sri Lanka beat Ireland by an innings and 280 runs in the Galle Test

Prabhat has done the feat of taking 10 wickets in his Test career for the second time. He took 7 wickets for 52 runs in the first innings of the Galle Test against Ireland and showed the path of pavilion to 3 Irish batsmen by giving 56 runs in the second. Prabhat bowled 47.1 overs in the match and took 10 wickets for 108 runs. This is Sri Lanka’s biggest Test win.

Prabhat had made his debut in the Galle Test against Australia in July last year. This left-arm spinner created history on his debut itself. Prabhat took 12 wickets in the first Test itself and became the highest wicket-taker for Sri Lanka on debut. He has played only 6 Tests so far. But, in this he has taken 43 wickets. He has also done the feat of taking 5 wickets in 5 innings.

In this Test, Sri Lanka declared the innings at 591/6 in the first innings thanks to the marathon innings of Kushal Mendis (140) and captain Dimuth Karunaratne (179). In response, Ireland’s team was bundled out for 143 runs in 52.3 overs in the first innings. Sri Lankan left-arm spinner Prabhat Jayasuriya took 7 wickets for 52 runs in the first innings. Sri Lanka had given the follow-on to Ireland.

Off-spinner Ramesh Mendis also took 1 wicket in the first innings and completed his 50 wickets in this Test. He has become the joint bowler to take 50 wickets in the lowest match from Sri Lanka. He now has 51 wickets in 11 Tests. He has equaled Dilruwan Perera, who scored a half-century of wickets in only 11 Tests. With this victory, Sri Lanka took a 1-0 lead in the 2-Test series. The second test will also be played in Galle from 24 April.
