Kapil Dev advice to Arjun Tendulkar and says If you can become even 50 percent like your father there is nothing better

Arjun Tendulkar did not get to play a single match for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022. This left many fans disappointed, as Mumbai was not performing well. Even in the last season, he was on the bench. In the IPL Mega Auction, Mumbai bought him for 30 lakhs. From Hrithik Shokeen to Kumar Karthikeya, he got a chance, but Arjun kept waiting for his turn.

However, former India captain Kapil Dev has said that he will always feel the extra pressure because his surname is Tendulkar. Meanwhile, MI bowling coach Shane Bond shared his views on Arjun not getting a single match this season, saying that the 22-year-old still needs to hone his skills.

Kapil Dev said that Arjun will always feel a little extra pressure because of his surname. It is not easy for any modern batsman to meet the standards set by the great Sachin Tendulkar, let alone his son. Kapil feels that Arjun should not be compared to his father and considering his age, he should be allowed to play like a youngster.

Kapil Dev said in the uncut, “Why is everyone talking about him? Because he is the son of Sachin Tendulkar. Let him play his cricket and don’t compare him with Sachin. There are advantages and disadvantages to naming Tendulkar. Don Bradman’s son changed his name because he couldn’t handle that kind of pressure. He dropped the Bradman surname because everyone expected him to be like his father.”

Arjun Tendulkar has been with the MI team for two seasons but is yet to make his IPL debut. Arjuna doesn’t even have much experience yet. However, he has often been used as a net bowler with the Indian cricket team and has also bowled for stars like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, even MS Dhoni and others. Kapil says that if he can be even half of his father’s player, it will be good for him.

The 1983 World Cup winning captain continued, “Don’t put pressure on Arjun. He is a young boy. When he has the great Sachin as his father, who are we to say anything to him? But I still give him one thing. Would like to tell you go on the field and enjoy. Nothing needs to be proved. If you can be 50 percent like your father, nothing can be better than this. When Tendulkar’s name comes up, our hopes go up. Because Sachin was so great.”
