New Delhi. Arjun Tendulkar did not get a chance to play a single match in IPL 2022. Due to this his fans are disappointed. Arjun was bought by Mumbai Indians in the mega auction of IPL 2022 for Rs 30 lakh. But, the whole season passed and he remained sitting on the bench. That too, when Mumbai Indians was out of the IPL early. Mumbai also gave opportunities to young players like Hrithik Shokeen, Kumar Karthikeya Singh in this season, but Arjun did not even get a match. Mumbai Indians bowling coach Shane Bond has also shared his views on this. He said that Arjun has yet to hone his skills.
Now former Indian captain Kapil Dev has said a big thing on this issue. He said that Tendulkar is behind Arjun’s name, which is why he will always feel the extra pressure. It is not easy for any player in today’s era to achieve the standards set by Sachin Tendulkar, so we should leave it to Arjun. Kapil Dev feels that Arjun should not be compared to his father and considering his age, the youngster should be allowed to play freely instead of putting extra pressure on him. So that they can enjoy their game.
Don’t compare Arjun with Sachin: Kapil
Kapil Dev said on ABP News, “Why is everyone talking about him (Arjun Tendulkar)? Because he is the son of Sachin Tendulkar. Let him play his cricket and don’t compare him with Sachin. There are advantages and disadvantages to having the name Tendulkar. Don Bradman’s son also changed his surname, as he could not handle the pressure. Everyone expected that he too would become a great cricketer like his father.
‘Expectations increase as soon as Tendulkar’s name comes up’
The former Indian captain further said, “Don’t put pressure on Arjun. He is a young player. Who are we to say anything to him when his father is the great Sachin Tendulkar? But I would like to tell him one advice or thing that go on the field and enjoy cricket to the fullest. There is no need to prove anything. If you become even 50 percent like your father, there is nothing better than this. When Tendulkar’s name comes up, our hopes go up because Sachin was so great.”
Arjun with Mumbai Indians for two seasons
Arjun has been with Mumbai Indians for the last two seasons, but he hasn’t made his IPL debut yet. Arjun has played only two matches in Mumbai’s T20 league. However, he has often been used as a net bowler with Team India and has bowled to Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, even MS Dhoni.
