New Delhi. The innings played by young batsman Rinku Singh against Lucknow Super Giants is being highly appreciated. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) head coach Brendon McCullum says the batsman has been looking for him in the current Indian Premier League (IPL) season and the franchise will take care of his game in the coming years. Rinku had almost brought the team close to victory with his brilliant batting against the Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday, due to which McCullum heaped praise on him.
McCullum, who is ready to take over as England’s next Test coach, said in a post-match press conference, “Obviously he (Rinku) is our search for the season.” Rinku is one player that KKR will focus on in the next few years, no doubt and we will really see him grow. Rinku scored 40 runs in just 15 balls to take the team close to victory against Lucknow Super Giants in their last league match. He was dismissed on the fifth ball of the 20th over due to a brilliant catch by Evin Lewis.
Rinku also played a match-winning innings of 42 not out against Rajasthan Royals. Kolkata lost by two runs in a high scoring match against Lucknow Super Giants. With this defeat, KKR’s team was knocked out of the playoffs. Of course, KKR may have lost in this match, but the way this team chased the target is commendable. Captain Shreyas scored 50 runs for KKR while Nitish Rana was dismissed after scoring 42 runs in 22 balls. Sam Billings played an innings of 36 runs.
Kolkata played 14 matches this season in which it won six and lost eight. Under the captaincy of Shreyas, KKR’s team could not perform as per the expectations. He made a lot of changes in the playing XI this season. However, the reason behind this was also the minor injury of the players and poor form.
