KL Rahul could lead Team India in three match ODI series against Zimbabwe

After leaving the captaincy of Virat Kohli, 5 players have taken over the command of the Indian team. On the other hand, Dhawan is ready to captain against the Windies. This is not ideal for any international team, but due to the circumstances, it is happening with Team India. In such a situation, news is now coming that KL Rahul can be made the captain for the Zimbabwe tour. Vice-captain KL Rahul has been running out of the team since the IPL. Recently, he also got a surgery done in Germany. He has definitely got a place on the West Indies tour, but he will need to pass the fitness test to play.

If Rahul gets fit and plays against the Windies, then he will be certain to go on the Zimbabwe tour. According to a PTI report, the Indian cricket team will tour Zimbabwe for the first time in six years for a three-match ODI series next month. Zimbabwe Cricket has announced that 3 ODIs will be played in Harare on 18, 20 and 22 August. This series is part of the World Cup Super League. KL Rahul can be the captain of Team India on this tour.

Like the one-day series against West Indies, India’s senior players will also be rested on the Zimbabwe tour, which will also have captain Rohit Sharma. For this reason, it is expected that Rahul will lead Team India in this series.

If we look at the list of captains of Team India this year, Kohli left the captaincy of the longest format of cricket after losing the Test series 1-2 on the tour of South Africa. After this, KL Rahul became the captain in the ODI series against the hosts. Rohit led the team fit and he was the captain for a few months in a row. After the IPL, Rishabh Pant led the team in the home T20 series against South Africa, while Hardik Pandya got the responsibility against Ireland. Now Dhawan has been made the captain in the ODI series against West Indies.

Some time back, when BCCI President Sourav Ganguly was asked about these changes, he had said that having seven different captains in such a short span of time is not ideal but it happened because some unavoidable circumstances arose.
