KL Rahul speaks about Hardik pandya exclusion from Team India against New Zealand T20 series 2021 IND vs NZ

Hardik Pandya has not been included in the squad for the three-match T20I series against New Zealand starting on November 17. Hardik’s performance in the T20 World Cup was quite embarrassing and he could not show anything special. This is the reason why the selectors have dropped him and when he will make a comeback in the team is also a big question. However, KL Rahul, who is going to take the responsibility of vice-captain in this T20 series, believes that Hardik is a smart cricketer and he knows how to make a comeback in the team in the next series.

Talking in the press conference, Rahul said on Hardik’s question, ‘To be honest, I mean I do not know that this has happened. He (Hardik) knows what he has to do and what is expected of him. He is so smart to understand such things.’ Hardik was not seen bowling in the opening matches of the World Cup, nor did his bat get runs. Pandya had bowled against New Zealand and Afghanistan, but there too he could not take any wicket. Despite the constant failure, Virat Kohli retained him in the playing XI in every match, for which the captain was also heavily criticized.

Talking on Rohit’s captaincy, KL Rahul said, “We have seen him in IPL and his stats say everything. He has a great understanding of the game and is a skilled strategist. This is the reason why he has been able to achieve so much as a captain. Rohit will bring a stop in the dressing room. It will be interesting to know in the next few weeks what are his goals for the team. Decisions in team sports are taken collectively and the job of the leadership group is to ensure that everyone is aware of their role and feels secure in the team.
