Chennai Super Kings registered their 5th win in IPL 2023 by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs thanks to the flamboyant innings of experienced Ajinkya Rahane, Devon Conway and Shivam Dubey. Fours and sixes rained heavily in this match played at the historic Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. With this win, CSK, captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has 10 points in 7 matches and has reached the top of the points table. This is KKR’s fifth defeat in 7 matches.

Chasing the target of 236 runs set by CSK, KKR’s team could only manage 186 runs for 8 wickets. For Kolkata, Jason Roy played the highest innings of 61 runs in 26 balls. Jason Roy hit a half-century off 19 balls, which is the second fastest fifty of this season. Rinku Singh contributed an unbeaten 53 runs. Dubey, however, caught Jason Roy at long-off in an attempt to hit another six off Khejroliya’s next ball. He hit two fours and five sixes while facing 21 balls. Rahane held the front. He hit two sixes and a four off Chakraborty’s consecutive balls in the 19th over. Ravindra Jadeja (18) hit Khejroliya for two sixes in the last over but then returned to the pavilion. While bowling economically, Suyash took one wicket for 29 runs but the rest of the bowlers proved to be very expensive. Khejroliya (44/2) was the most successful bowler.
