Legendary cricketer Vinoo Mankad’s son Rahul passed away, breathed his last at the age of 66


Mumbai. Former Mumbai player and great cricketer Vinu Makand (Vinoo Mankad)’s son Rahul Mankad (Rahul Mankad) died after a brief illness. He was 66 years old. Rahul Mankad is survived by his wife and two daughters. The news of Rahul Mankad’s death was confirmed by former Mumbai player Shishir Hatangadi’s Facebook post who wrote, ‘Jigga bhai, God rest my friend Rahul Mankad’s soul.’

Rahul Mankad breathed his last in London. Right-handed batsman and left-arm slow bowler Rahul Mankad played 47 first-class matches in which he scored 2,111 runs with his best score of 162. He has 5 centuries and 12 half-centuries to his name.

His brothers – Ashok and Atul – were also cricketers. Ashok represented India while Atul played domestic cricket. Rahul Mankad played from 1972-73 to 1984-85. Condoling his death, former Indian cricketer TA Sekar tweeted, “Shocked to hear about the passing of Rahul Mankad. Truly a gentleman, a good cricketer and a great human being. My heartfelt condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace.’

Expressing grief over his death, famous commentator Harsha Bhogle wrote, ‘Good bye my friends on WhatsApp. Very much enjoyed my cricket chat with you. I am very sad My condolences to the Mankad family.
