The organizers of the Legends Cricket League have announced the Asia and World Legends team. The Asia team comprises 7 top stalwarts from Sri Lanka and includes Sanath Jayasuriya, Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas, Romesh Kaluwitharana, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Nuwan Kulasekhar and Upul Tharanga.
The Legends Cricket League 2022 will start from January 20 at the Oman Cricket Stadium.
Along with Sri Lankan players, the Asian team also includes two star players from Pakistan, fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar and all-rounder Shahid Afridi. However, the tournament will not feature Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar, who was a major attraction in the first season of the tournament held in Ranchi last year.
Even though Tendulkar’s name was included in the promo of the tournament, the master batsman confirmed through his management agency that he would not play the tournament this year.
But the tournament got a boost when former India batsman Yuvraj Singh confirmed his participation and would play for India Maharaja. India’s side also features Harbhajan Singh, who announced his retirement from all forms of cricket late last year. Virender Sehwag and all-rounder Irfan Pathan are also involved.
