Maruti Suzuki Starts Delivery Of Jimny SUV, Company Gets More Than 30,000 Bookings

The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki has started the delivery of the 5 door Jimny. It was introduced at this year’s Auto Expo. Its price ranges from Rs 12.74 lakh to Rs 15.05 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). For this, the company has received more than 30,000 bookings.

Company’s plant in Gurgaon Jimmy Manufacturing is being done. It is being sold through Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa outlets. The waiting period for this is six to eight months. This off-roader of the company is getting good response from the customers. Next month Maruti Suzuki will introduce its Engage MPV.

It has a 462 cc 4-cylinder petrol engine that generates power of 104.8 PS and torque of 134.2 Nm at 4000 rpm. Its fuel tank is of 40 liters. It is mated to the option of 5 speed manual transmission and 4 speed AT. Maruti Suzuki Jimny has a 22.86 cm touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, push start and stop, climate control, power windows, digital lock and tachometer. This includes side and curtain airbags, dual front airbags, brake limited slip differential, ABS, EBD, ESP, hill hold control, hill descent control, brake assist function, rear view camera, side impact door beams, seatbelt pre-tensioner/force limiter. Has security features. Maruti has the Grand Vitara and the recently launched Fronx in this segment. For the company, it can be helpful in strengthening the position in the SUV segment.

Maruti Suzuki has suffered production loss in the first quarter of the current financial year due to shortage of electronic components. However, the company expects some improvement in the situation in the current quarter. Maruti for the last several months semiconductor Production has to be cut due to shortage in supply. Because of this, the company is finding it difficult to meet the demand. In the last financial year, Maruti suffered a production loss of around 1.7 lakh units. The number of pending orders with the company has increased to more than four lakh units. Many other automobile companies have also had to reduce production due to shortage in the supply of semiconductors.
