Mike Hesson compares Wanindu Hasaranga to Yuzvendra Chahal says Not easy to replace him in IPL 2022

Wanindu Hasaranga has been performing well for the Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Sri Lankan leg-spinner replaced Yuzvendra Chahal in the team this year and showed the magic of his wrists in IPL 2022. Hasaranga has so far taken 21 wickets in the season-15 and he is at the second position in the list of highest wicket-takers in IPL 2022. Yuzvendra Chahal is at the top of this list who has taken 23 wickets. Chahal was neither retained by RCB nor bet in the mega auction this year.

Pat Cummins ruled out of IPL 2022 due to hip injury

RCB’s Director of Cricket Operations Mike Hesson has heaped praise on Wanindu Hasaranga and also compared him to Yuzvendra Chahal.

Mike Hesson in ‘RCB Bold Diaries’ said, “He (Hasranga) has been dismissing big players from the beginning and taking wickets in the middle overs to get our team back. Many times he has taken one wicket for 28 runs. He also took the place which may not be noticed much but for us he is valuable. It is not easy to replace a legend like Yuzi (Chahal) but Hasaranga has told in the tournament that he is as good a cricketer as Yuzi.

Hasranga can break Chahal’s record

Yuzvendra Chahal holds the record for taking most wickets as a spinner in a season for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The leg-spinner took 23 wickets at an average of 18 in 2015. Hasranga is very close to breaking Chahal’s record, hopefully he will be able to do so this season. RCB still have 2 more matches to play in the stage.
