Mitchell Marsh says It was a Shame Delhi Capitals could not make it to IPL 2022 Finals

Australian cricketer Mitchell Marsh has admitted that it is a huge disappointment that his Indian Premier League side Delhi Capitals could not make it to this season’s playoffs. Things were going in favor of Delhi Capitals, but in a do or die match against Mumbai Indians, Delhi lost and were out of the race for the playoffs. RCB had qualified with 16 points.

Delhi Capitals needed to beat Rohit Sharma’s side in their final league match, which would have secured their playoff berth, but the Ricky Ponting-coached team lost by five wickets and bowed out of IPL 2022. Regarding this, Mitchell Marsh, while talking to the Sydney Morning Herald, said that it is a matter of great shame that Delhi’s team could not reach the IPL 2022 playoffs.

The 30-year-old said, “It was a shame that we could not reach the (IPL) final. I got a real sense of how he (head coach Ricky Ponting) takes care of his players and maybe he is a captain. And as a team leader – that’s the way he makes you feel. He made me feel like a really important player for Delhi.”

Marsh will now feature in a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka starting June 7 and later a five-match ODI series against Sri Lanka itself and would like to maintain his IPL form. The Australian batsman said that he would like to continue batting at No. He has said, “I think I like the number 3 position in T20 cricket.”
