Mohammed Rizwan on Cheteshwar Pujara: Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan has heaped praise on Cheteshwar Pujara, saying the Indian batsman has a very good focus and has taken many tips from the senior batsman during their stints together in county cricket. Pujara and Rizwan are currently playing together for Sussex in Division Two of the County Championship.
Pujara is doing amazing
The 34-year-old Pujara has been the highest run-scorer in four matches with 717 runs at an average of 143.40 with four centuries. The pair also enjoyed a useful 154-run partnership in a match against Durham in April. Rizwan in particular has been impressed by Pujara’s focus and his ability to make long innings. He considers Pujara a good player along with his compatriots Younis Khan and Fawad Alam.
Rizwan praised fiercely
Rizwan told CricWeek.net, ‘In my life, the player I have seen with good focus is Younis bhai. After that Fawad Alam was at number 2, but now Pujara has come to number 3. The Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman also revealed the batting tips he took from Pujara, especially how to play close to his body.
He said, ‘I had a conversation with Pujara, when I just came to England and got out a couple of times early, he told me a few things that you should play close to your body. There is no doubt that we play white ball cricket more and there we play well away from the body because the white ball does not swing or seam much and you are always looking for runs. The 29-year-old also said that playing with Pujara was no different for him and the pair established a good rapport on and off the field.
