Mohammed Shami wanted to quit cricket.
Ex-coach Bharat disclosed.
New Delhi: Team India’s best fast bowler Mohammad Shami has won many matches for India on the basis of his brilliant performance. Shami, who made his debut in 2013, has been playing for Team India for almost 10 years. There was a time in his life when he wanted to stay away from cricket completely. India’s former bowling coach Bharat Arun has revealed this.
During a conversation with Cricbuzz, Arun said, “Shami had failed the fitness test before the Test tour against England in the year 2018. He had lost his place in Team India. He came to me and said that he wanted to tell me something. He was in a lot of trouble. He said that I am very angry and want to quit cricket. After hearing this, I immediately took Shami to meet Ravi Shastri.
Debut at the age of 33, career destroyed in 3 matches only! Said goodbye to the world in 2021
Ravi asks her what happened? Responding to this, Shami said that I do not want to play cricket. Then we both asked him what would you do if you don’t play cricket? Then Shastri said to Shami, “The best thing is that you are angry. Your fitness is bad. Whatever anger you have, take it out on your body.” After this Arun also said that Shastri advised him to stay in NCA (National Cricket Academy) for 4 weeks instead of going to Kolkata. Shami again obeyed Shastri and spent about 5 weeks there.
After spending about five weeks in NCA, Shami was included in the series against England. However, this series was lost by India 4-1. After Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami was the second bowler to take the most wickets in that series.
