Mumbai Indians Coach Mahela Jayawardene: IPL 2022 has been no less than a nightmare for Mumbai Indians. Mumbai had to face defeat in eight consecutive matches. Now Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardene has praised two players from Mumbai.
Appreciate these players
Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene on Thursday said it is good to see young spinners like Hrithik Shokeen and Kumar Karthikeya Singh perform well in IPL 2022. Both Hrithik and Karthikeya, who made their IPL debuts at the DY Patil Stadium after being replaced by other players, were instrumental in putting pressure on Rajasthan Royals in the middle overs.
Showing the attitude of taking wickets
Mahela Jayawardene said, ‘When Jos Buttler hit four sixes off Hrithik Shokeen, his wicket-taking attitude was very good. KK (Kumar Karthikeya) also bowled brilliantly, he has worked very hard on his bowling. Jayawardene was also happy with how Mumbai did the smallest things right to secure their first win against Rajasthan. He said, ‘It is good to see that we were able to showcase the skill and at the same time finish the match. The bowling was very good with the bat, so we were able to win.
Mumbai Indians out of playoff
Mumbai Indians crashed out of the playoff race after losing 8 consecutive matches in IPL 2022. Speaking on this Mahela Jayawardene said, ‘We had a lot of opportunities to finish the match with ball and bat this season, but we could not. So, winning gives a boost to the team to get points in the points table.
Hrithik-Kartikeya won the victory
Mumbai Indians beat Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets to register their first win in IPL 2022. Hrithik bowled brilliantly with 2/47 wickets, while Karthikeya took 1/19 in his four overs. In reply, Mumbai chased down the target with four balls to spare, registering their first win of IPL 2022.
