IPL 2022: Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma has expressed hope of making a comeback in IPL 2022 after losing the sixth consecutive match on Saturday. While chasing the target of 200 runs, Rohit also took full responsibility for failing to give Mumbai the necessary start. Rohit has not been able to show any wonders with the bat in IPL 2022, which is a big reason why Mumbai became the first team to be out of IPL 2022.
Rohit admits his mistake
Rohit Sharma said after the match, ‘I take full responsibility for not giving the team the good start that they expect from me. I will be back to go there and enjoy the game and I have been doing this for years. It is not the end of the world, we have come back before and we will try to come back again. Rohit lamented the fact that the Mumbai lineup did not find partnerships to chase a big score, just like Rahul did during Lucknow’s innings. In 6 innings of IPL 2022, Rohit has scored only 114 runs at an average of 19.
Rohit praises Rahul
Rohit further said, ‘I think KL Rahul batted brilliantly, which the players of our team did not do. We haven’t lived yet, but we need to hold our heads high. I am trying to prepare myself in the way I prepare for every match, it is no different.
Mumbai players disappointed
Earlier, after deciding to bowl first, Mumbai’s bowling was unable to dismiss Rahul or stop the run-flow. Lucknow was cautious against Jasprit Bumrah, conceding only 24 runs in his four overs, while other bowlers like Jaydev Unadkat, Murugan Ashwin, Fabian Allen and Tymal Mills came up with big scores.
Mumbai are yet to register a win, they are out of the league now and they should be on the winning side in the rest of their matches, which doesn’t look easy. Rohit Sharma also said that Mumbai are still trying to find their best playing XI in the tournament.
