NCA chief VVS Laxman likely to take over as head coach of Team India for South Africa and Ireland T20I series

Team India’s busy schedule will be seen once again, when two teams will be seen in action together again. The white-ball team will play their home match against South Africa, while Team India also has to play the T20 series against Ireland. Meanwhile, Team India will go on a tour of England for the Test match. In such a situation, two coaching staff can be seen. This will be the second time that there will be one regular and one part time coaching staff.

The coaching staff, led by Rahul Dravid, will tour England next month. In the absence of Team India’s head coach, VVS Laxman may have to play the role of head coach for the T20 series against South Africa and Ireland. According to InsideSport, the BCCI will appoint Laxman as the head coach of Team India for a limited time in place of Dravid, who is currently serving as the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

A BCCI official said, “We now have a warm-up match against Leicestershire on June 24 before the Birmingham Test. Rahul Dravid and the team will leave on June 15 or 16. We will be hosting the India vs South Africa T20 series from VVS (Lakshman) and… Will ask to play the role of coach in the T20 series against Ireland.” Interestingly, Rahul Dravid played the role of head coach on the tour of Sri Lanka when he was the NCA chief, as Ravi Shastri was in England with the main team.
