New Delhi. The journey of Chennai Super Kings, one of the most successful teams of IPL, has been very bad so far in the current season (IPL-2022). He has lost 5 out of 6 matches. This time the team is playing under the captaincy of Ravindra Jadeja instead of veteran Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Former England captain Michael Vaughan has questioned Ravindra Jadeja’s captaincy after Chennai’s defeat against Gujarat Titans. Vaughan has said that under Dhoni’s leadership, Chennai has never lost such tough matches.
At the MCA Stadium in Pune, Chennai scored 169 runs in the stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 5 wickets, after which Gujarat achieved the target with 1 ball remaining for the loss of 7 wickets due to the strong innings of David Miller (94 *). Gujarat had lost 4 wickets for 48 runs but later the match went till the last over and David Miller gave victory.
Vaughan believes that if Dhoni had been taking over the captaincy then the match would not have gone till the last over. He said that Dhoni does not give any chance to the opposing team to return to the game. Vaughan also talked about Dhoni’s strategy to set the field on the field. He told Cricbuzz, ‘As a new captain, you want to win tough matches. Honestly, it was not a tough match and they (Chennai) lost it. Chennai should have easily won that match by 10 or 15 runs.
He further said, ‘I can only imagine what will happen now. I don’t remember seeing MS Dhoni ever losing many matches like this. You would never have seen the team losing in a difficult match under Dhoni’s captaincy. He doesn’t let it go till the last over.
