Nicholas Pooran Said Challenging India will send a message to the world

A three-match ODI series is to be played between India and West Indies from July 22. West Indies had to face a 0-3 clean in the recent ODI series against Bangladesh. However, despite this, West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran has warned India before the start of the series that his team will give tough competition to the guests. He admitted that India is a team that has many options to bat at all numbers and also has many match-winning players in his team. After the ODI, India also has to play a five-match T20 series with the Caribbean team.

Pooran told The Times of India, ‘Team India has a lot of players who can fulfill their responsibility. They have players who can win matches with bat and ball. But we are also ready to challenge his team. This will also send a message to the whole world. As a group we are no less than anyone.

Pooran took over the limited overs captaincy of the West Indies during IPL 2022 after Kieron Pollard suddenly announced to step down as the captain of the team. Pooran said that West Indies are still finding the right balance in ODIs. He said, ‘We are trying to create the right mindset for ODI cricket. When we are able to do that then everything will be right. We have to play every format accordingly.
