ODI Rankings: Jasprit Bumrah again becomes number-1, overtakes Pakistani bowler, only Indian in top-10


New Delhi. India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has benefited from his record-breaking performance in the first ODI against England at The Oval. He has become the world’s number-1 bowler in the latest ICC ODI rankings. He took 6 wickets for 19 runs in the first ODI against England. This is the best performance by any Indian bowler in England. Bumrah has surpassed New Zealand’s pacer Trent Boult and Pakistan’s fast bowler Shaheen Afridi to get the number-1 chair. He has jumped five places to the first position in the ODI rankings for bowlers. Bumrah has 718 rating points in his account. Now Bolt has come in second place, while Afridi is third and Australia’s pacer Josh Hazlewood is in fourth place.

There is no Indian other than Jasprit Bumrah in the top 10 bowlers in the ODI rankings. After him, the Indian bowler who is included in the top-20 is leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. He is at number 20. Mohammed Shami is at 23rd and Bhuvneshwar Kumar is at 24th position.

In February 2020, Bumrah lost the captaincy of the number-1 bowler of ODIs to Trent Boult of New Zealand. In the previous two years, he remained number-1 most of the time. Bumrah remained number-1 in the ODI rankings for a total of 730 days. Which is more than any other Indian. Before this, Bumrah has also been the number-1 bowler of T20. He is currently ranked third in the Test rankings, which is his career-best ranking. He is the first Indian pacer after Kapil Dev to reach the first position in the ICC ODI rankings. Anil Kumble, Ravindra Jadeja have also been number-1 in the ODI rankings.
