Neeraj Chopra: Star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra definitely wants to win a medal at the World Championships to be held in July but he doesn’t want to put too much pressure on it. Olympic gold medalist Chopra said that he is not thinking too much about a medal in the World Championship.
Neeraj Chopra will return
He will also enter the World Championships with the same thinking that he followed during the Tokyo Olympics. He can certainly achieve this feat in the World Championship, if he does his best on the day of the competition. Chopra told PTI in an interview with his ‘Training Base’ in Finland, ‘Last year in the Olympics, I did not take any pressure, I was not thinking that I had to win a gold medal. So I did well and won the gold medal.
He further said, ‘My effort has always been to do my best during the day according to the circumstances. If I do my best and improve and learn more for the future, I get satisfaction. Chopra said, ‘I will do the same during the World Championships, let’s see if I get the result, whether I win a medal or not. It’s not like I won a gold medal in the Olympics last year, so I have to win a medal in the World Championship this year as well. I will see what else I can improve for the future.
There is pressure – Neeraj Chopra
He said, ‘There is some pressure, it is natural. But I always try to be relaxed and don’t think too much about the result. I am as normal as possible before going to big tournaments.
