New Delhi. Rahul Dravid is counted among the most reliable batsmen of Test cricket. He made his Test debut in 1996 against England. His debut was a bang, but the end was disappointing. Rahul Dravid made his debut in the Lord’s Test against England on June 20, 1996. This was also the first Test of former Indian captain and current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly. But, the fourth day of this Test i.e. 23 June was a disappointment for Dravid. Actually, this was the date on which Dravid was 5 runs away from creating history by scoring a century in his debut Test.

The Indian team went on a tour of England in 1996 and from June 20, the second Test was played at the historic ground of Lord’s, which was a draw. England had scored 344 runs in the first innings. In response, the Indian team scored 429 runs thanks to Sourav Ganguly’s 131 and Rahul Dravid’s 95. England declared their second innings on a score of 278/9. It was the last day of the Test and with this the match was declared a draw.

Dravid batted for 6 hours during his innings of 95 runs and scored 95 runs in 267 balls with the help of 6 fours.

Dravid scored 36 centuries in Tests
Dravid may have missed a century in the debut test. But, when he finished his career, he had 36 centuries and 63 half-centuries to his name. He scored 13288 runs in 164 Tests at an average of over 52. In Tests as well as ODIs, he scored more than 10 thousand runs. In ODIs too, he scored 12 centuries and 83 half-centuries.
